FUT fans will finally be able to see the FIFA 21 TOTY Ultimate XI later today, but one player has already been confirmed early.

With the FIFA 21 TOTY voting officially closing on January 18, 2021, EA SPORTS then confirmed that the FIFA 21 Team of the Year Ultimate XI will be revealed on Friday January 22, 2021 at 6pm GMT , but it has not yet been confirmed if the full Ultimate XI will be released into packs at this time, or if they will be released in batches.

In previous FUT TOTY promos, EA ESPORTS have often released the defenders, then the midfielders and then the attackers, rather than releasing the full team all at once. However, FUT TOTY promos also historically start on a Monday, so with the FUT 21 TOTY promo starting on a Friday this year, anything is possible.

However, ahead of the official FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI announcement, one player has had his FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI inclusion leaked, and by his own football club no less!

Ahead of the FIFA 21 Ultimate XI announcement, we’ve rounded up all of the latest info about the TOTY promo, including the latest leaks, predictions and promo details.

FIFA 21 TOTY Leaks

Although speculation is often rife around FUT promos, particularly regarding leaks and predictions, it’s not very often that a player gets officially confirmed a few hours early, even rarer that it was the player’s own club to announce it!

But that is exactly what has happened with the FUT 21 TOTY promo this year, because although it’s not any great surprise, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been confirmed as being part of the TOTY Ultimate XI for FIFA 21, with City themselves announcing it with a picture of the Belgian holding a TOTY trophy.

No confirmation of his TOTY rating yet though. You can check out the picture below.

There’s been loads of speculation on social media regarding a possible Under-23 TOTY, in place of the popular Future Stars promo that is expected to kick off in a few weeks time, but this looks very unlikely at this stage, particularly with EA announcing the release date and time for the Ultimate XI release.

There was also a full ‘leaked’ TOTY team circulating on social media, but this wasn’t real, as it was a prediction by a FUT community member with the logos taken off. Guess you’ll have to wait until later!

FIFA 21 TOTY Promo Release Date confirmed

The FIFA 21 TOTY Ultimate XI will be released on Friday January 22, 2021 , EA SPORTS confirmed on their official website.

On the FUT 21 Team of the Year web page, there is now a statement confirming the TOTY release date, with the statement also confirming that the vote is now closed.

“The votes for the FIFA 21 Team of the Year are being counted. See who made the Ultimate XI on January 22!”

There is also an additional statement on the ‘About TOTY’ page, confirming that Friday January 22 is the date when these players will be released into the FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.

“The final Team of the Year XI will be announced on January 22, when special TOTY player items featuring some of the highest ratings of the season will be released in FUT 21 to celebrate each player’s incredible performances over the course of a year like no other.”

UPDATED January 20: As for the FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI release time, that was confirmed by a brand new FUT loading screen, which went live on Tuesday evening within the FIFA 21 Ultimate Team game mode.

The loading screen confirms the release time for the FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI as 6pm GMT on Friday, January 22.

This means that this year’s FUT TOTY promo bucks the trend of previous FUT seasons, as normally the TOTY campaign begins on a Monday, with different positions being released into packs throughout the week.

But, for FUT 21, it seems that the full FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI will be released into packs instantly, and probably the 12th man too.

For example in FUT 20, the TOTY promo began on Monday January 6, 2020. In FUT 19, the TOTY promo began on Monday January 7, 2019. The TOTY has often started earlier too, as you can see from the release dates, but with the real-life season starting late, it makes sense for EA SPORTS to delay the TOTY promo too.

FIFA 21 TOTY Promo – What we know so far

Within any FIFA Ultimate Team season there are always a number of big FUT promos, where highly-rated player items are released into packs, these include FUT promos such as Headliners, Future Stars, Rulebreakers, Freeze, FUTMAS, TOTGS, Winter Refresh, FUT Birthday and many more.

But, the FIFA 21 Team of the Year (TOTY) is the biggest and most popular FUT promo, with the event featuring a selection of players based on their performances over the last calendar year, who are given special blue FUT items with significant upgrades and the best ratings of any FUT promo.

UPDATED January 21: The FUT 21 TOTY card design has also been confirmed, with the design now circulating on social media.

Posted by the ever-reliable FIFA Ultimate Team content account @FutWatch, the new card design features gold and blue shapes as is tradition for the TOTY promo, with broken glass design that also extends outside of the card itself, with gold flicks around the edges.

You can check out the confirmed FUT 21 TOTY card design below.

What makes the FUT TOTY promo different to other FUT promos is that the team of eleven players that make up the Team of the Year squad, plus a 12th player, is decided by EA SPORTS FIFA community members by vote, with 70 TOTY Nominees up for selection.

For example, in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team last year, Virgil van Dijk, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s TOTY items were 99-rated, with Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne given 98-rated TOTY items, whilst Sadio Mane, N’Golo Kante and Alisson were given 97-rated TOTY items.

The TOTY is normally made up of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, where each category can contain a player in any position.
