Vodafone Idea’s GIGAnet 4G delivers highest network speed in January-March quarter: OoklaNEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) 4G network GIGAnet has delivered the fastest download and upload speeds across India for the third consecutive quarter (January-March 2021), as compared to its rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, according to speed testing firm Ookla.

This comes at a time when data usage has surged exponentially as more people are staying at home amid a fresh wave of Covid-19 infection that has gripped the country.

“It gives me immense satisfaction to see Vi being consistently rated as the fastest 4G network for the most part of the year 2020-21 when people and businesses were wholly dependent on telecom connectivity,” said Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea Limited.

According to Takkar, the telco enhanced network capacities during the year to ensure its customers get the “best network experience”.

According to Ookla, GIGAnet from Vi has been verified as the fastest average 4G download speeds in 16 Indian states namely–Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, and Nagaland.

Additionally, Vi has the fastest average 4G download speeds in 135 Indian cities including the metros of Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Kolkata.

The telco which was borne from the merger of Idea Celluar and Vodafone India in 2018, reported a subscriber base of 269.8 million in the December-end quarter, of which 109.7 million customers are 4G subscribers. It had posted an average revenue per user (ARPU) of Rs 121 for the same quarter.
